A LITTLE CLARITY

Your routine.
On your Mac.

This describes the Coddle 0.1.0 preview and the website source published with it. Updated 22 October 2026.

The app

Coddle has no account system or cloud charging service. Its smart-charging decisions use local hourly samples of whether your Mac is plugged in. The app source includes no analytics SDK or remote telemetry service.

  • Settings and setup: your configuration and setup progress are saved in ~/Library/Application Support/Coddle/, in config.json and onboarding.json.
  • Charging routine: hourly plugged-in observations are saved locally in macOS UserDefaults. They help estimate when you might unplug.
  • Away detection: the app can read macOS network fingerprints and learn time spent on usual networks. These learned records stay in local UserDefaults; a manual usual-network list may be saved in your configuration. A short hash is used for compact display, but the internal record is not guaranteed to contain only hashed identifiers.
  • Battery and activity display: Coddle reads local system battery and power information, plus running-app activity estimates, to present its panel. These are not sent to a Coddle server.

You can turn off smart charging and away detection in Settings. Turning a feature off does not promise to erase its existing local history. Removing the app also does not automatically remove preferences or an installed helper. Keep sleep prevention off and uninstall the optional helper through Settings before removing the app if you no longer want those controls.

This website

The website source includes no analytics SDK, advertising scripts, tracking pixels, or cookie-setting code. It uses your browser’s localStorage to remember the language you select. Clearing this site’s browser storage removes that preference. The site has no account or email-subscription form.

The site and its downloads are served through Cloudflare. Delivering a page requires the hosting service to process request metadata, which can include IP address, browser information, requested URL, and time. Hosting-level logs, security features, or analytics configured by the operator may process additional request information; the absence of an analytics SDK in this source does not establish that the hosting service keeps no logs. Hosting retention and optional injected services depend on the deployed configuration.

The app source is available under MIT or Apache-2.0. The release metadata and checksums identify this preview.
